Memory Tag

I saw a post on a friend's blog and thought it would be fun to remember some good times. Here are the memory tag rules:

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. Thanks!

A few hospital memories:

1) You picking me up somewhere, us driving home, and Drew meeting us at the door. "Adam put his foot through a door and cut himself" Was it 22 stitches? I thought you handled that pretty well.

2) Me having a ladder fall out from underneath me, falling 15 feet into a bush and getting paint in the mouth, nose, ears and everywhere. The reaction I remember is: "Go downstairs and see if you can clean some of that off you so you don't get it in the van." (Maybe that is a little off...) I tasted blood in the back of the throat and had a pretty good gash in the arm from it. (Still have the scar on the arm.) We spent the next couple of hours at the Catholic hospital waiting to be seen.

3) My nearly puncturing a lung with my collarbone. I about crawled out of my skin while you drove me to the hospital that time. I remember getting on the xray table, not moving again for about an hour. They finished the films, and all I could hear from the next room over was "Wow!, hey come look at this." and "Is that the kid in there?" When they went to talk to you, they said "Are you his Mother?" Your response was "Yes..."

4) Us coming to visit, Emma starts having breathing problems. It gets to the point that you can't stand it anymore, we go to a pediatrician. They pretty much do nothing for us, we head to the ER. We sit there for a very long time, Dave and I give her a blessing, she is very quickly fine, we spend a few more hours in that place sitting around.

5) I'm sure there's a big one I'm missing...

1) first day of school. i got some kind of paper pinned to my shirt, i think it has my name and stuff on it. i remember having cowboy boots on that were a little big for me. my feet sloshed back and forth as you and i made the long walk from our house on villa ave to the far end of the block. there were a few other people as we arrived, i was way too shy to look up as you chatted to them. i remember feeling safe as long as you were holding my hand, only to be crushed when you introduced me to the bus driver and told me to get on.

2) walking home from the same bus stop. i think i was 8 or 9. John was going to the same school and ran ahead. i went into the corner store and stole a candy icecream cone (no comments from the peanut gallery!). they got me. i remember being so frightened, not from them getting me, but them telling me that they needed to call my mother. i gave them the first 5 numbers of the phone number and pretended not to know the last 2. they figured it out (amazing!) .... you picked me up, gave me a bag of goldfish and told me to get in the van. i sat there waiting for something to come from your mouth as you ran your errands. i dont know if it was your strategy or what, but nothing was ever said. i stressed it for days.

3)when i cut my finger off, i stood at the front door atempting to act like nothing was wrong as Kaylynn stood at the fireplace, i called for you. when you saw it, your comment was ok lets go. kinda like it was no bigdeal just another injury, just another visit to the ER, Different kid. dad ended up taking me to the ER after everything was said and done, thankfully, all things considered.

I remember the day of prom and all that it entails... And the doorbell rang.. Amy answered and you heard them ask for me you yelled toward the door "Tell them to go away!" and Amy turned toward you (and was trying not to laugh) and said "it's the police mom". That still makes me laugh!!
